Cantare — Cantare Children's Choir

Rehearsals Wednesdays 6-9 PM at Lutheran Church of the Cross

Cantaré is the ensemble of our program for children ages 12 to 18.  Singers are challenged to new heights of musical sophistication through the study of high quality repertoire in unison and two, three and four part harmony.  Performance opportunities within the community and tours are an important enrichment to the training these advanced singers receive.

In the past, members of our Cantaré ensemble have been featured as performers in Calgary Opera’s productions of Otello, The Inventor, Tosca, Carmen, Turandot, Dead Man Walking, Magic Flute, Sweeney Todd, Hansel and Gretel, La Boheme, Susannah, and Filumena.  and at prestigious events forHer Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s visit to Alberta in 2005; the KodálySociety of Canada;  the Alberta Kodály Society; the Alberta Choral Federation; Calgary Concert Band; University of Lethbridge Singers; Chefs of UNICEF Gala; Banff International Television Festival Awards Ceremony; Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation; Calgary Kiwanis Music Festival Stars of the Festival Concert; Bob Carlisle and Orchestra; Bishop Grandin High School, and the Calgary Bach Society.

Touring is an important enrichment to the comprehensive training these singers receive.   In addition to touring on their own, singers from Cantaré regularly perform and tour with our ensemble Cantando.  Together, they are known as Cantidad.
