Rehearsals Mondays 6-8 PM at Lutheran Church of the Cross

This ensemble is for children 8 to 12 years of age, who have mastered the basic skills of musicianship / choral singing and who wish to continue their musical growth through the study of both unison and two part song repertoire. The children appreciate the child-centered approach offered. They further their development and enhance their growth as artists through performance opportunities.

Community

In addition to performing in our four concerts, Cantiga is invited to perform at numerous community events. In 2017 Cantiga performed "The Girl Who Loved Horses" with Lands End Ensemble as part of the Calgary Pro Music Family Series.  In 2016 Cantiga was featured performers at Music Conference Alberta.  In 2011, Cantiga performed Carmina Burana with the Calgary Civic Symphony.  In 2006, they joined Cantaré and Cantando as featured artists in a performance with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra as part of their Discovery Series.  Cantiga is also invited to sing at prestigious events such as Harmony for Hope in support of Child Find, Hull Child and Family Services, Calgary Opera’s Dinner on the Set, Calgary Bach Festival Society, and with the Corpus Christi Male Chorus. Our popular School Concert Tours provide our singers with the opportunity to share their love of singing with Calgary area school children.

Calgary Opera

Members of our Cantiga ensemble have also performed in Calgary Opera’s productions of The Inventor, The Ballad of Baby Doe, Carmen, Dead Man Walking, Turandot, Sweeney Todd, La Boheme and Filumena.

Cantiga Tour

Cantiga’s annual tours provide the opportunity for our choristers to share their joy of singing in schools, senior’s residences, churches and performance venues throughout Alberta.  It also allows our choristers to explore and learn about historic and cultural sites throughout our province.
