Cantidad — Cantare Children's Choir

Rehearsals Wednesdays 6:00-9:00 at Lutheran Church of the Cross

Cantidad is our ensemble which combines singers from Cantaré and Cantando.  The rehearsal time shared by the two ensembles is one of the most important and unique components of our program; the leadership of our senior Cantando singers together with the larger size provides the opportunity for all the singers to experience complex, advanced, four part treble repertoire.

Cantidad is invited to perform in many prestigious concerts and events such as those with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra [Beethoven’s 9th Symphony 3 times!;  Howard Shore’s The Lord of the Rings Symphony;  John Adams’ On the Transmigration of Souls [twice!];  Yom Ha Shoah Service of Remembrance; The Holocaust Remembrance Service;  Festival Chorus [Ecce Cor Meum; Missa Gaia;  St. Nicholas;  Joshua]  and The Calgary Civic Symphony [Angels’ Voices; Songs of the Season;  Beethoven’ s 9th Symphony].

Touring is an important enrichment to the training these exuberant singers receive - and together they have traveled the world!  International trips have taken Cantidad to historic venues in England, Germany, Italy and Ireland.  At home, the choir has travelled extensively throughout Canada and the United States.  In 2010 Cantidad traveled to Ottawa to perform for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Philip in a private ceremony at Rideau Hall.
