The glow of candlelight; the angelic sound of children's voices - a glorious evening of seasonal music. Join Cantaré Children's Choir in our much-anticipated return to public performance as our three acclaimed ensembles of children present a luminous candlelight celebration of the Christmas season through song and carols on Saturday, December 18 at 7:30 PM at Knox United Church.
Our Cantare ensemble will present "SNOW ANGEL" by Canadian composer Sarah Quartel. Through song and narrative, this five-movement work weaves together stories of love and light, rebirth and rejuvenation, and highlights the strength and beauty a child’s voice can bring to our often troubled world.
Highlighting our senior ensembles, Cantare and Cantando, “From Rome to Rio” will use music to explore what it means to be a global citizen and how our singers can build a better world through song, all while highlighting classical and contemporary masterpieces in a way only Cantaré can.

ALBERTA HEALTH SERVICES HAS ISSUED A STATEMENT WHICH ASKS THAT ORGANIZATIONS DO NOT HOST ANY EVENTS THAT HAVE MORE THAN 250 ATTENDEES. IN ACCORDANCE WITH THESE DIRECTIVES OUR PLANNED CONCERT WILL BE POSTPONED.
Inspired and guided by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s treasured setting of Stabat Mater, “The Lonesome Road” touches human journeys to explore, to exist, and to triumph over suffering and pain. We are reminded of courageous explorers from long ago who eagerly sought new horizons. Reaching into the skies or into the hearts of others, we examine the human desire to always push on for a better world, especially those who work to bring peace to our battered world. We celebrate those who live in Canada’s extreme north, bringing laughter and light through tenacity and determination, and through their close association to the land which is beautifully captured in Jeffrey Ryan’s remarkable work, Midnight Sun Songs. Through these journeys, we return to the lonesome journey of Mary, the mother, watching her only son die on the cross for the hope of all humanity. Join us for an evening of reflection and solace as we follow the journeys o f those who walk daring paths of discovery.

The concert features all of our choirs accompanied by a professional string ensemble.
Our season kicks off with our Fall concert “Out of this World” which features an eclectic series of music including Bob Chilcott’s newly premiered work “Samba Mass”. Cantiga will feature prominently in this performance with Jeffrey Ryan’s “Midnight Sun Songs” with words written for and by the children of Canada’s extreme north. Our performance will be accompanied by an incredible string ensemble to bring life to Ryan’s original accompaniment composed for Canada’s acclaimed Gryphon Trio
Cantaré Children's Choir is pleased to announce the final concert of the season for our younger ensembles Cantilena and Cantiga as they present "Vördnad ... Awe" on Saturday, May 4 at 7:30 PM at St. Stephen's Church. This concert will feature music from three centuries of song including works by masters such as Handel and Scarlatti, as well as contemporary composers Neil Ginsberg, John Govedas and William H. Anderson. It promises to be an uplifting event!

The second half of our Split-Summer Program featuring our two eldest ensembles, Cantare and Cantando. The rich tradition of superb choral music is celebrated as the ensembles present an exhilarating and challenging program of works by various composers both classic and contemporary.
The first of our split-summer concert series featuring our two youngest ensembles, Cantilena and Cantiga. The program will highlight our younger choristers incredible achievements throughout the year and feature a wide range of music that includes exhilarating Baroque pieces to contemporary songs.
Tonight we invite you to explore the concept of infinity through a broad spectrum of music. Together we will experience the music of First Nations people from Canada, the Torres islands, Malaysia and Scandanavia. We hope are inspired by songs of praise that have endured for more than three centuries. Let the sound wash over you as we celebrate the inexpressible beauty of nature, the boundless energy of joy and laughter, and the captivating stories that never end.
